Environment simulation systems are applied in several fields recently, such as military simulation, city programming system, virtual reality house property salesmanship system, great engineering cruise system, simulation training system and so on. But the simulation technology is applied in real competition rarely. Competition simulation based on the virtual reality is becoming a hot topic and research area.Tennis competition simulation system is represented. The main frame of system, the design concept, and main technologies of the tennis competition simulation system are proposed. Some main technologies are researched and discussed such as image processing, moving object detection and tracking, replay the competition and so on. The followings are the main studies:Firstly, image processing technologies can resolve the effects of weather condition, lighting condition and moving object occlusion which used the image gray transform, image enhancement and image filtering technology through the research of the image processing technologies. Secondly, a new background image updating method is proposed according to some disadvantages of these methods through the research of the moving object detection. It can reduce the effects which caused by environment changing. Thirdly, moving object tracking technologies are researched and improved according to the needs of system. This method used Feature-based tracking combined with Region-based tracking method. It can get the moving information accurately and effectively. Finally, tennis competition simulation and replay is realized which is based on Virtual Reality. So how to set the tennis moving path is introduced, then the final place of the tennis from the around can be seen.
