Micro-strip antenna is applied in various areas because of its small size,light weight, low profile and easily to be integrated with circuits. Circular polarization antenna is widely used in the communication systems, radar, telemetry and remote sense product and electronic countermeasure. The design and simulation of wideband circular polarization pentagon micro-strip antenna array has been presented in this paper. The main work includes:Firstly, the basic electromagnetic theory of micro-strip antenna is introduced, which focus in radiation principles, the methods of feed, especial the method of feed for pentagon antenna. Three typical analysis methods, transmission line method, cavity model method and full-wave analysis method, are introduced lately. And then, the finite element method and the relating software which based on the method are presented.Secondly, planar array antenna is introduced. The antenna directivity and the mutual coupling between the elements are introduced by stress. The main parameter of array antenna, the basic structure and the advantages and disadvantages of feed network are introduced too. A reasonable array structure and network for the requirement are proposed.Thirdly, based on the analysis of generation mechanism and performance of circular polarization, the cell structure of array is designed. The antenna is optimized by theory analysis and HFSS software. The detailed process is given. Finally, a pentagon circular polarization antenna which is feed by micro-strip and coaxial line is realized. Result from simulation and test, the antenna Gain is 7.5dB at 5.6G, the angle which Axial Ratio less than 3dB is almost upper half-space.Finally, the array antenna is designed by theory analysis and the optimized of HFSS software. The design and simulation of a 2×2array is emphatically analyzed. The key points and the difficulty in the designing process are detail given. The simulation result is also given.
