With the rapid development of Internet, many information system are gradually based on web, the increasing services make a heavy burden on web server. While, it is not a actual way to solve the problem by upgrading the hardware of the server, the web server cluster has the features of high availability, load balancing and scalability, So it becomes the best solution for the preceding problem. Furthermore, How to utilize the resources fully and build a high available, the high performance/price, scalability server to meet the increasing requirement of load has become a problem, the key algorithms in load balance system play the important role indeed.This thesis mainly discusses the resources utilization and load balancing problem on heterogeneous clustered web server, gives a careful analysis of web server cluster system and load balancing system, carries out a research on a resource–sharing and load-balancing model and a dynamic load-balancing algorithm-Multiplicative Regression in Critical area (MRC) of Clustered web server. Therefore, it can fully and suitable utilize the system resources, also improve the throughout of Clustered web server. This paper's content includes:1. The thesis gives a careful analysis of the development of server cluster, and its principal realization theory, also introduces the classification, characteristics, features and meaning of the cluster. Then, the Linux Virtual Server and load-balancing are introduced in this paper, and the framework and related theory are carefully discussed.2. The paper gives emphases on the key technique of the load-balancing. A load-balancing scheme is constructed based on heterogeneous clustered web server, and load elevator to clustered server is analyzed for the scheme.3. The paper also gives emphases on the load-balancing algorithms in load-balancing system. A dynamic load-balancing algorithm- MRC is proposed as to improve the availability and scalability of the load-balancing system. The method can be efficiently applied to web server cluster systems based on Linux virtual server through an applied test.According to the load-balancing model and MRC algorithm, a real web clustered system is constructed to verify the efficiency of the method; also, it is applied to Chongqing University Enrollment and Examination Information Management System successfully.
