H.264/AVC is the newest international video coding standard jointly developed by the ITU-T VCEG and the ISO/IEC MPEG standards committees.H.264/AVC adopts many new and advanced coding technologies.The new changes improve the coding efficiency considerably.As might be expected,the increase in coding efficiency and coding flexibility comes at expense of several times in complexity with respect to earlier standards.The high coding complexity has significant impact on the applications of real time video coding.Therefore,reduce the system's coding complexity while keeping necessary performance has been a hot spot in the video compression field.The paper has conducted the research focusing on the H.264/AVC block matching fast motion estimation algorithms.The dissertation is organized as follows:(1) Introduce the new technologies of H.264 standard differing from the previous versions.Make an in-depth studying of key tools in H.264 such as flexible macro block order,parameter sets,and date partition.Performance testing is done on those tools,and compared the result with earlier standards.(2) Motion estimation algorithms based on block-matching and matching principle are studied.Make an in-depth studying and testing on classic motion estimation algorithms.(3) Multiple reference frames are studied.According to the difference the recent reference frames,short-term reference frames and long-term reference frames,use different methods to predict the searching starting points.Aiming at the recent reference frames,introduce a concept of Initial Search Point Set(ISPS).(4) Searching centre prediction technology,UMHexagonS searching algorithms and threshold technology are studied.On the basis of UMHexagonS,two thresholds are set,and a double starting points fast searching algorithms based on multiple reference frames(MRFDUMHS) is studied.(5) On the basis of PMVFAST technology and EPZS algorithms,combine the multi-mode matching technology,internal simple searching technology and advance stop principle,a predictive motion vector field adaptive search based on multi-mode (MPPMVFAS) is studied.(6) Software testing.On platform of JM8.6,five testing sequences are separately coded for 100 frames by the FS algorithms,UMHexgonS algorithms,EPZS algorithms,MRFDUMHS algorithms and MPPMVFAS algorithms in this paper.The PSNR of Y/U/V,motion estimation time of coding,average coding bit rate of every testing sample are obtained and the coding performance of each algorithm is compared。...
