With the rapid development of electronics and information technology in many fields, various types of automation techniques appear. RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is automatic information identification technology to help people get rid of complicated manual work and improve efficiency of labor. Because multi-service is required and processing and transmitting information are time limited in many fields, real-time operating system should be used in intelligent reader and writer. Linux is a widely used embedded operating system. But it doesn't consider time requirements of tasks. So it's a significant research topic to improve real-time ability of Linux for RFID system.This thesis designs a project of intelligent RFID reader and writer. It proposes and tests effective project to enhance real-time performance based on analyzing bootloader, protocol analyzer module, process scheduler and clock interrupt of Linux. The project improves real-time ability of bootloader and protocol analyzer module and advises new scheduler model, one shot clock interrupt and adding preemptive points. The project can guarantee normal functions of kernel and satisfy requirement of RFID system.Finally, we propose methods for real-time ability improvement of RFID system, such as using the last linux kernel, and some points that can be used to futher research.
