Thanks to the development of today's information technology, the amount of data in information system is increasing, so as to the increasing requirement of high speed communication. The image data collection system is a representative high speed data collection system, which has important research value using widespread. This paper exhibits a real-time image capture system based on USB2.0.The real-time image data collection system consists of collection module, communication module and data process module. Each module has its own hardware and software. The task of collection module is to get analog-digital transform done for the image signal; the communication module transfer the image data to the data process module, which, at last, do some image data arithmatic and data processing, then implement the concrete function of the system. The different design of the module lie on the function of the system, different function makes various designed scheme. We compare with each scheme in this paper and select one in our project.This paper introduces a whole design of the project at the beginning, and shows the interrelated USB protocol. The paper will discuss some aspect of problem, mainly in order of the flow of image data transfer, such as the system equipments, PC driver and the application design. The last chapter introduces the test and optimization process for the USB communication of the system. it refers some knowledge of firmware, driver and applications design. This paper emphasizes its point on software design.After the synthesis test of the system, the transfer rate of USB can reach as high as 22Mbytes/s, and the transfer rate of USB in Application system is 13.5Mbytes/s for the best performance, which can satisfy the requirement of the system.
