Research On International Standardized Profile For E-Learning Technology Standard Architecture

With the development of the Internet technology, e-learning has made great progress around the world and become a very important education pattern. The e-learning resource systems, however, has been designed separately. This prevents the information from interacting smoothly between different resource systems, degrades the compatibility of the existing system and makes the large amounts of learning resources can not be shared successfully. There are lots of existing e-learning standards and specifications under the development, thus in order to make the best use of these standards to improve e-learning system compatibility, a mechanism to refer standards is presented.Standards reference profile or profiles, is adopted to reuse the existing standards. This mechanism can save the time to copy/paste standard expressions and avoid creating new ones as well. Therefore, the interactions between different e-learning system and resource reusability can be achieved. According to current work and research, how to refer these specifications is still yet not clear. Thus, to make mechanisms to fulfill this reference is important in the application of the existing e-learning standards. At the same time, profiles of standards and specifications, which base on the e-learning standards in China, was very important in the future research and application.This thesis analyzes the current work in the area of e-learning and introduces the mainstream e-learning standards. Base on the existing research on the International Standards Profiles (ISP), the framework of standards profiles is presented. Then gives an introduction to the Platform and Media Profiles (PMP), which is the core part of ISP. The concept, content, format, classifications of ISP and profiles space are under the discussion. What is more, a PMP test system is designed and constructed. Finally, gives the summary of this thesis and future standard profiles research.
