The Research Of Chinese Question Answering System

As Internet popularizes, more and more information are available online, providing a huge amount of resources for people. However, with the overwhelming information, people find it very difficult to find the information they need quickly and accurately. There are some search engines that can help people to search for needed information, but they are far from being satisfactory. Question answering system is developed to meet people's demand. Question answering system can give users concise and accurate answers to the question presented in natural language by using natural language processing technique.Presently, many research institutes have been investigating English question answering system. Some mature English question answering systems have been widely recognized. But few institutes are doing research on Chinese question answering systems. No Chinese question answering systems have been proposed up to now. In this paper, we try to investigate some technologies for Chinese question answering systems.Our Chinese question answering system has three main parts: question analysis, information retrieval and answer extraction. For a question submitted by a user, firstly we need to clarify the intention of the user's question. Question analysis includes lexical analysis, question classification, syntactic analysis, keyword selection and keyword extension. Information retrieval module first aims to retrieve answers from local repository using the keywords generated during the process of question analysis, or retrieve documents from the network using search engineers. Then answer extraction module will find the relevant answers from these documents retrieved by search engineers and return the answers to the user. Answer extraction includes sentences filtering, named entity recognition and syntactic analysis.In this paper introduce the evaluation of the system and analyze the result. Finally, this paper summarizes the work of this paper and analyses the deficiency of the system and gives some specific advice, which paves well the way for the next research.
