With the rapid increasing of network bandwidth, the real-time transmission technology of streaming media data has been becoming one of the key researches on the area of modern network technology in recent years. Research and implementation of relevant technologies such as real-time video processing, transmission and etc. are core components in streaming media communication area, and they have profound influence in software engineering and application. With the sharp rise in multimedia communication traffic, available network bandwidth decreases most of the time. As a result, many problems arise, such as the delay and drop-out of the multimedia data packages, the intermission of playing, the deficiency of articulation and synchronization of audio-video. Since real-time video communication has high requirement in bandwidth and latency. The realization of system needs to have effective real-time transportation strategy and flexible developing platform.Focusing on these requirements, this paper researches the real-time transmission of streaming media deeply, then designs and realizes a streaming media network transmission system based on RTP/RTCP protocols after choosing the popular MPEG-4 encoding technology. Firstly this paper introduces streaming media technology. Then this thesis introduces some technology related to streaming media transmission system. In the implementation section, the paper establishes the total solution of the streaming media transmission system, and designs the total structure of system, then compartmentalizes main function models of system. Subsequently, the paper introduces the realization of server and client, and relevant DirectShow components are utilized to construct full-connected Filter Graph and complete framework construction. At last, the system is tested and the test results are presented and evaluated.This system has been applied to the environment of Campus Network. The system solves finely the problems of jitter, error, loss order in the transmission process of real time streaming data, and obtains good communication effect.
