The aim of computer-aided optimal nesting is to provide high-quality stock layout scheme, to save raw materials, to reduce product costs and to improve the economic efficiency and social benefits of enterprises. With the widespread use of steel structure products, improving raw materials' utilization efficiency is an urgent need to solve for steel structure enterprises. In order to make effective use of the raw materials, lower the raw material cost, improve production efficiency and enhance the competitiveness of enterprises, this paper researches on the raw material cutting stock problem and develops Nesting Optimization system for steel structure products.The principal work and conclusions in this paper are as following:(1) Introduces the relevant knowledge of Computer Aided Nesting, analyses the application trends of steel structure products, summarizes the related requests of steel structure manufacture and educes the optimization objective.(2) Analyses the needs and goals of nesting system in the cutting workshop. Found the stock layout systemic mathematical model for rectangular piece according to the actual production of materials and features, and does the analysis and researches on constraint condition. Basic on the careful analysis and research to several heuristics algorithm, this paper gives the improved algorithm. Under the help of genetic algorithm, this paper presents the stock layout's process.(3) For the rectangular pieces, this paper adopts object-oriented design means and develops a suit of nesting software system for steel structure products. Meanwhile, puts forward the structure framework of the stock layout software system and introduces the composition and function of the various modules. Finally, we put the system into the engineering example and achieve significant effect.(4)For the irregular steel member for two-dimension (abnormal steel), this paper uses No Fit Polygon after complexly applying computational geometry, computer graphics, and optimal combination knowledge. Then it explains the critical technology in the course of layout system for irregular steel.(5)Finally, this paper advances the latter processing scheme for administering the remaining material and using it.
