Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 is a Web services platform which Microsoft has issued recently for information exchange and collaboration. It enables enterprises to develop intelligent portal site, which can be closely connected to the user, team and knowledge. Applying SharePoint as a platform for information, people can make better use of the relevant business information and carry out their work more effectively, to achieve the effect that information can be freely used by people.Office SharePoint Server 2007 provides an unattached platform, which can be taken advantage of by IT professionals and developers, to construct a web application system that can support the internal and external internet, as well as mission critical. It provides an isolated solution which is easy to deploy, use and manage by integrating all the current systems together. And the software also provides a familiar interface, through which users can share or communicate in a super-stylish way, and the interface can run simultaneously with existing back-end systems so that the information hidden in the background can jump to the front of the work table at a time when it gets worked. SharePoint sites make it easier for end-to-end co-operation, and implement the integration, organization and searching of the individual, team as well as information.SharePoint technology of Microsoft is developing rapidly. Nowadays, it is not just used to coordinate the sectors and organizations, but to collect and organize the information among enterprises. Due to the continuous expansion of the use of SharePoint, there are more and more individuals and enterprises in use of it. At the same time, the demands of the application, which involves the question like transfer and backup, gets increased. For data transfer, users sometimes need to transfer the whole structure of SharePoint and data stored in its web site to other servers in order to facilitate the use of remote teams. While in terms of security, enterprise needs a data backup function. When the problems emerge, the entire SharePoint site can be restored. In order to meet above needs, a convenient and quick solution to data backup and transfer is badly needed. Thus DocAve Offline Replicator comes out, it can not only implement the browse function of SharePoint web, but also compress and back up web data of SharePoint as well as transfer it to anywhere for restoring. DocAve Offline Replicator is a solution of SharePoint's backup and transfer created specifically for enterprise. It is a space-saving system that can not only compress and back up data conveniently, safely and efficiently, but also will be able to transfer backed up data for restoring. The functions of Offline Replicator can be shown in the following:(1) It can browse the data of SharePoint so that users can easily see the whole data structure of SharePoint and compress and back up the data which is important and often necessary to be backed up data or to be transferred.(2) It can compress and backup data of SharePoint, and allows users to select all the data of SharePoint, from the upper level of the site till the bottom level folder, including all entries in the various levels of data to compress and backup conveniently. It can also put all the data of SharePoint into the compressed file, which can be can be copied or moved to anywhere.(3) It can restore the file of SharePoint that has been backed up and compressed, users can use this function to restore compressed backup files to a specific type of node, and to create a new node of the same type, into which you can copy the contents of the compressed backup file.The whole system can be divided into Server-side and Client side. Server-side is the one with B/S structure, applying the Java programs, while Client-side is the one acquiring the C # language, as well as tools such as Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, SQL Server, etc. and Socket, XML and other technologies. This paper mainly introduces the process of design and development of Client-side, through a detailed analysis, the DocAve Offline Replicator structure will be divided into the following modules:(1) Data Browsing Module: users can browse through the structure of SharePoint by this module, which can reflect the structure of the data directly.(2) Data Compression and Backup Module: in accordance with the structure of data browse, the module provides not only the backup function for a number of levels of SharePoint (including the site level, sub-site level, list level, entry level, folder level, document level), but also the function of regular backup based on user-specified plan.(3) Backup Restore Module: according to the saved compressed data and the structure of SharePoint, it can restore compressed backup data.The whole system, from problem definition, feasibility studies, needs analysis, detailed design to the general test, all follows the theory of software engineering, and adopts the UML modeling. The superiority of UML Modeling lies in that it is a powerful and universally applied modeling language which is well-defined as well as easy to express. It combines with the new ideas, new methods and new technologies of the software engineering field, taking the graphical representation of various methods into account, removes a lot of symbols which is easier to get confused, unnecessary and barely used, and at the same time adds a few new symbols. It also contains a multitude of object-oriented ideas. Accordingly, the author chooses UML as the modeling tool for the system.The author has designed reasonable rules and practical functions after doing an in-depth research on the backup and transfer of SharePoint data on the basis of a lot of technical information and technical problems that the users encountered in the use of SharePoint. And DocAve Offline Replicator has also been studied in terms of the technology, structural design, functional modules, and the design flow to ensure the feasibility of the system. The paper employs UML modeling and has a reasonable design on diagrams of each module and activity diagrams of the DocAve Offline Replicator system, which lays the foundation for the design and implementation of the system. And it also designs the relevant case diagram, activity diagram and class diagram to setting the activities like data browsing, data compression and backup, data transfer and data restore as the examples.Client-side of the system applies Visual Studio 2005 as the platform and C # language as the media, XML as the communication means between Server and Client. This paper introduces the entire process of operation, and some of the most important class.Finally, the entire system has been tested. Through rigorous testing to different levels and different cases, it is verified that DocAve Offline Replicator is space-saving system that can compress and backup data conveniently, safely and efficiently, and be able to transfer backed up data for restoring.As the SharePoint technology gets more and more widely used, there are more and more demands for data transfer and security by the user, and DocAve Offline Replicator can just meet their needs and solve these problems encountered by users. The system has a friendly interface, and is very easy to handle. Users will be fully aware of the superiority in the process of knowing and applying the system. Concerning these advantages, we have every reason to believe that DocAve Offline Replicator will be applied widely.
