3D reconstruction is one of the most popular areas of research in computer vision. However, the traditional method of 3D reconstruction has lower efficiency, poor real-time ability and can not meet the emerging field of virtual reality demands of the market. The paper proposed a novel real-time 3D reconstruction system based on color-coded structured light (RRCS). It recovers shifting from the color-coded structure light on the surface of object quickly and correctly, and then calculates the height of the object in order to reconstruct the 3D model. Experiments indicate that the requirement of hardware is low and have base real-time ability.Phase unwrapping is the key step in 3D reconstruction. The paper also proposed a novel space domain phase unwrapping algorithm, which is called as TSPU/E-TSPU that based on the properties of color-coded structured light and the topological relation of color-stripe. The basic handle unit of traditional phase unwrapping is point while color-coded structured light is edge. The paper analyzed this problem and other failure scenes in order to enhance fault tolerance. After phase unwrapping, 2D points of image should be converted into 3D points of World Coordinate System. A new method of triangulation based on 'line points' is prosposed to solve the triangulation on colored edges. The paper also considered different frame speed on different module and design an asynchronous image process model to promote user experience.
