Research On Method Of Establishment Of Related Articles Database For Biomedical Literatures Orienting Knowledge Service

To improve the knowledge service level of literature retrieval systems, the Institute of Medical Information of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (IMICAMS) has established the Related Articles Database (RAD) for the Chinese Biomedical Engineering literatures by years of study, which is based on the automatic word segmentation according to the thesaurus, and credible in judging relevance between biomedical literatures. However, the database is restricted by thesaurus development in practice. In this paper, another literature retrieval system based on the suffix tree is established, and the two databases based on different methods are compared accordingly.This paper is divided into seven chapters. In the first chapter, the connotation and characteristic of knowledge service, relevant concepts in the development of RAD are introduced, and the relationship between knowledge service and RAD is emphasized. Secondly, the research of RAD at home and abroad is reviewed, especially for the IMICAMS. Thirdly, the outline of RAD for the Chinese Biomedical Engineering literatures is introduced. Fourthly, the progress of construction of RAD based on suffix tree is described in details. Fifthly, the effect of RAD based on suffix tree is evaluated by testing and analysis. Sixthly, the RAD based on suffix tree is compared with the RAD for the Chinese Biomedical Engineering literatures. Finally, suggestions of advanced research of RAD orienting knowledge service are put forward.
