Research On Query Expansion & Key Technologies Based On Semantic Analysis

As the precision and recall of Web information retrieval system is very low now, a new method for automatic query expansion is present to improve the performance of retrieval. Techniques for automatic query expansion have been extensively studied as a means for addressing words mismatch between queries and documents. However, the current query expansion is still a lot of defects, which can not be resolved at the same time the natural language in the vocabulary of synonyms and unambiguation. After analyzing the limitations of traditional techniques of query expansion; we describe a new technique of query expansion based on Semantic Analysis.The main work and innovative results of the dissertation organized as follows:Firstly, some traditional technology of query expansion was introduce, as well as its advantages and disadvantages in the problems that exist. On this basis, the new characteristics and technological processes method for query expansion based on the semantic description was introduced. It is a new query system to profile and key technical language, for example, the word sense disambiguation, synonyms expansion, in the expansion areas, such as technical terms of similarity in the text are summarized and concise brief note.Secondly, an unsupervised word sense disambiguation method was implementated. In the field of natural language, word sense disambiguation research processing the many applications of great theoretical and practical significance. Recent years the computational linguistics and natural language processing an important research topic. In view of the current meaning disambiguation common problems, a new solution were introduced.Finally, this dissertation discusses the background of the application of word similarity measurement, then two strategies of word similarity measurement are summarized, including their ideas, tools and main methods. In the end, a new word similarity calculation method based on HowNet was introduced.Query expansion based on semantic analysis can be extended to make up for the traditional query expansion of the many inadequacies in the technology, the user enquiries in the analysis and understanding on the basis of accurate grasp of user enquiries intention to conduct such enquiries to be more clear on process more clearly, for reducing errors, improving search precision and recall rates.
