Fourier transform, wavelet transform and Stockwell transform are widely used in structural earthquake response analysis or strong ground motion data processing. Mathematical fundamentals of the above three methods are discussed. Characteristics during their application in earthquake engineering are compared. This thesis can be summarized as:1. Laws of De-noising by using Fourier Transform, Wa\elet Transform and Stockwell Transform are obtained; advices on digital filtering when using Wavelet Transform and Stockwell Transform are proposed;2. Sinusoidal sweep signal generating methods are discussed, two kinds of suitable methods used for earthquake simulation test are proposed.3. Temporal and frequency domain digital filtering methods are compared, suggestions on proper application are presented.
