As the developing of digital integrated circuit technique, voltage regulate module (VRM), the power supply of digital integrated circuit, has new developing trendency: greater output power, lower output voltage, greater output current. So, the research of low voltage and high current VRM and its relavant techniques have received more and more attention in the recent years.In this paper, 36V-72V in and 1V/30A out VRM is the main study object. VRM's main topologies have been classified and compared, and forward-flyback topology is chosen as the main circuit. A new driving scheme of SRs used in forward-flyback topology has been discussed and researched in details. First, under the soft switching condition, the detail operation principle of active-clamp forward-flyback converter is analyzed. Next, the concept of synchronous recitier technique is introduced, and main dirving schemes of SRs have been classified. The new driving scheme of SRs used in forward-flyback topology is chosen, and its operation principle is analyzed. Next, the design principle of active-clamp forward-flyback converter's main components is presented, and the design consideration of the new driving shceme is introduced. The design examples are presented too. At last, simulation and experimental results of a 36V-72V in and 1V/30A out prototype are provided to verify theoretical analysis and design principles.
