The Research On The Recognition System Of Identification Number On The Cable

In the process of cable production, vendors will mark a serial number on each cable as its logo identity, in other words the number of each cable is the identity. In the traditional production process and logistics process, the identification and the registration for this number mainly rely on manual work. Studying of the automatic identification technology benefits a lot for improving the automation level of cable production.This thesis first introduces the character recognition technology based on digital image technology, and then introduces the key technology used in this system as the locating of the cable numbers, binary segmentation, skew correction, cable character segmentation, character recognition.In the process of locating the characters, the first step is using HIS color space to locate the cable which provides a relatively unitary background for the locating of characters. Then the DCT (Discrete cosine transforms) used in the algorithm to locate the characters. Experiments show that this proposed method can effectively achieve the locating of characters but also have a certain ability to resist interference.As the surface of the cables is a curved surface, the illumination on that surface is uneven. This thesis proposed a new algorithm for the curved surface.Separation of characters is an important issue in Character Recognition. This thesis proposes a new method based on the morphological characteristics of Arabic numerals. It has good effect to the separation of adhesion character.Character recognition is also an important issue in this thesis. It uses the template matching method. Compared to the traditional template matching method, this thesis proposes a new method to improve the template, so that this method has a certain noise suppression capability.As cable recognition system is an embedded system, this thesis briefly introduces the design of hardware using in this system.
