In this paper, the basic configuration of the ultrasonic senor is introduced, and the principle theory of the two important parts of the ultrasonic senor (amplitude transformer, ultrasonic transducer) is presented. It is obviously that the sensor material is a vital factor which influences the sensor characteristic. The principle of the ultrasonic method applied to measure elastic coefficient is to obtain the elastic module, shear modulus and Poisson ratio by measuring the velocity of ultrasonic wave propagating in the solid material. And then the digital correlation method is applied to obtain the propagation time of ultrasonic signal, from which the velocity of ultrasonic is measured in time and accurately. The elastic modulus of alloy material in different environment temperature is measured by the ultrasonic pulse-echo method. The result is benefit to the research and development of elastic material of sensor.FEA software (ANSYS 7.0) is used to study the dynamic characteristics of the amplitude transformer, ultrasonic transducer, and the other accessory of the special ultrasonic sensor. Aiming at the practical problem in the analysis of the special ultrasonic sensor, we change some figure sizes of the senor in the simulation analysis. The dynamic characteristics corresponding to the change is presented, from which the original design of the sensor is optimized. It's found that our work is speedy, high-efficiency and more intuitionistic by using the FEA software. Some discussions of analysis and design are proposed for the ultrasonic sensor by FEA software. Finally, a great deal of experimental results and characteristics conclusion of the special ultrasonic senor is given.
