Microwave radiometers are widely applied to radio astronomy, remote sensing, target detection and tracing, guidance, medicine etc. Synthetic aperture technology is introduced to microwave radiometer in order to improve the space resolution. The research and development situation of synthetic aperture radiometer is introduced in this paper, the basic theory of synthetic aperture radiometer is introduced too.Design of the experimental system of synthetic aperture radiometer is showed in this paper. Simulation is done by ADS (Advanced Design System), which is a professional RF design and simulation tool. The simulation results are presented and the mutual relativity of the two receivers in narrow band system is exported and simulated.In order to experiment on large synthetic array, we developed a target to target simulation system, which contains the detecting scene,receivers and signal processing. The receivers'simulation part is researched in this paper.Traditional simulation model of receiver was usually based on mathematical function, which can set parameters conveniently but can not present the characteristic of the receiver exactly. A new simulation model named S-PARAMETER model is proposed in this paper. Receiver is seen as a two-port network in this model, described by S-parameter, which exported from ADS. The imperfect factors which contain gain imbalance, phase imbalance and mutual coupling, are also imported.The simulation system of receiver array is developed by Visual C++ language in .NET environment. Some simulation experiments are carried out, such as simulation of perfect receiver, receiver array with gain imbalance, and receiver array with phase imbalance. The simulation results validated the correction of the model and the applicability of the system.
