Testing,an indispensable part in the life of product,is a important way to assure the quality of product.According to the preset plan of tester, the automatic testing system conduct the test by means of auto testing tool or other methods. This paper makes a intensive review of the automatic test and Data-Driven in theory and practice.Which includes the phylogeny of automated test, the frame, ideas, advantages and achieve ponits of data-driven.With specific encryption test steps of WNIC, explored to realize a new automated test tool-ATE (Auto Tester for Encryption Module of Wireless Network Interface Controller). The main contents as follows:1. Analyzed the theory of data-driven, proposed a framework of data-driven for ATE, and had application in practice from data and script.Used the XML file as a common script which can be parsered by MSXML to control the entire operation. Encapsulated a class to access Excel directly by ODBC driver and improved the efficiency of the visit.2. Expounded the generation technology of test case, and supported positive and negative test.Testcase can be generated automatically by the principle of 80-20, or manual input, it increased flexibility and coverage.3. Based on the C / S architecture, ATE was divided into Server and Client. Used custom data format in synchronous communication to ensure the synch -ronization between the Client and Server in test.4. Results and reoprts were processed automatically. The tester could analyze the problem through log module.5. Engineered and implemented a prototype of automatic test in VC++, and experimental results demonstrated the effectiveness of the design.
