With the development of Internet, traditional distributed file system unable to meet the requirement of wide area distributed system environments. Storage of documents, number of users goes far beyond a single file system management capability. Traditional distributed file system unable to manage the wide-area distributed heterogeneous storage resources. In addition, distributed file systems are generally used C/S architecture, the coupling among modules are strong.According the requirement of data intensive application and wide area distributed environments; we proposed a service oriented file management system (SOFMS). SOFMS using service-oriented software architecture, heterogeneous storage resources in the resource nodes will be published into unified web services interface, shielding the heterogeneity of resources; Widely distributed and heterogeneous storage resource can converge into a single uniform storage resource using virtualization techniques in SOFMS.Based on SOFMS, we polymerize the scattered storage resources in WAN environments and forming a unified file storage space for users and applications. The main contributions of this paper are listed below:1. Proposed EVP file storage model for WAN environments. This paper defines the file storage model: E-effective storage space, V-virtual storage space and P-physical storage space. Based on the underlying physical storage space, we construct unified user interface virtual storage space by P-V mapping. Based on virtual memory space we construct the effective storage space by E-V mapping.2. Develope a file management system based on SOA software architecture. In this paper, we designed the architecture of service oriented file management system. Standard web services implementation hide the heterogeneity of storage resources and provides the unified interface. Service oriented software architecture making the system coupling of lower and lower system development and maintenancecosts.
