Study Of Method And Technology For Semantics Analysis About Structure Of Physical Data Model

Database reverse engineering is a software procedure to re-construct documents through analysis of the source text of the programs and attempt to understand and finish files or databases application,and mainly means the procedure of recovering conceptual data model from physical data model.The paper mainly deals with how to translate the meaning of database's objects in information systems with business terms based on method of database reverse engineering, therefore helping to get a better understanding of the old information system during process of information system re-engineering.Firstly,theory and application of technology of database reverse engineering is discussed,and one of CASE tools,PowerDesigner,is proposed to carry out the practical work of database reverse engineering.Then a universal solution is given to translate the meaning of physical data model structure in information system based on oracle database,with the help of technology of database log analysis.Then the problem of type conflicts which occur in the process of the solution is settled with the help of solution to structural conflicts in theory of schema integration.The proposed solution is a method which combines work done by man and work done by machine.At the end of the paper,the automatic part of the solution is implemented.
