Interactive features of Computer application systems become more and more prominent, people also make increasing demands on the system user interface(UI).This makes UI in the computer application system has increasingly become the main system components which determines success or failure. According to statictics, in the general development of the system, 30-80% of the workload have been spent in the UI development. Therefor, to enhance the development quality and development efficiency, people need the technical support of UI. User interface management system(UIMS)of this concept is proposed in such a background. UIMS refers to the model and tool set which support interactive user interface design, implementation and maintenance of the application system. Over the past 10 years,UIMS have a lot of development in both theory and practice. Seeheim model provide separation of application and UI, and an UI conceptual framework which is consisted of presentation, dialogue control and application interface.This constitutes a basis for the development of the UIMS.Entering the 1990s,the emergence and use of new technologies such as Muti-Windows,three-dimensional Graphics,multimedia/multimodal,artificial intelligence and computer-aided cooperative work(CSCW), changes the development of UI and brings new vitality, as well as some new problems to UIMS development.This paper will focus on a new pattern-design-oriented UIMS system, discuss a task-based UIMS system structure and layer-based pattern management technology, proposed a new UIMS system. Based on this system,a pattern-design-oriented platform is designed. Using this platform, a dying - oriented application system is implemented:1) The implementation methods of pattern-design-oriented UIMS system architecture.This system is closely integrated with the state map-based task model and agent technology, achieves dynamic building of interface and interactive process with the model driven.2) A new layer-based pattern organizational forms.This form not only supports the universal data presentation and display but also supports complex data types.The platform is currently applied successful in an textile product computer-aideddesign software system, which is supported by National scientific and technological projects subject, and it provides strong support for the development of system design tools.
