The design based on the embedded OS is getting more and more popular in the embedded applications in these years;no matter in smart electrical appliance or in commercial electronic or even in the industrial control field, the application of emedded OS is always seen everywhere. Different form the design mode of single chip embedded system, the embedded could provide the extremly flexibility on resource, space, time; therefore, it asks for the developer to take a new way on design and development which should be different from the past. This dissertation is base on a practical project of a domestic electronic instruments company. According to the concept of smart instruments, it asks for higher requirements of target, control convenience, artificial intelligence for testing instruments. However, the traditional single chip design mode could not fullfill the current requirements, It has become a trend to using the emebedded OS to realise multi-task and real time. This dissertatioin introduce the architecture of sumsung S3C2410 arm processor. After carefull consideration of the requirement of the project, it brings forward a solution which adopts Linux as it's embedded OS to enhance the real time qulity of system and spread the network function; and take dual-port ram as the data exchange channel instead of the SPI; what's more, the dissertation puts forward a independent GUI system to avoid the mistakes in managing the software which was mixed by the GUI part, control part and arithmetic part. This dissertation focuses on the migration of embedded Linux, bootloader, drvier development, GUI migration and development etc.
