The rapid development of the IP networks provides the support for the multimedia communication services and voice over IP development. And SIP protocol, which is the most important protocol of multimedia communication and voice over IP technology, has attracted more and more attention these years. On the other hand, as the rapid increase of mobile devices such as lap-tops, the wireless Ad Hoc services become more popular. But the standard SIP protocol can not support Ad Hoc networks well at present. One major difficulty is that infrastructure Ad Hoc networks cannot provide SIP central service device.This paper proposes a new architecture to provide decentralized SIP service in Ad Hoc networks. This paper described the technology based on SIP, introducing signaling technology used in vocal communications as a contrast to show the advantages of SIP. Then analyzing the characteristics, hierarchy, message format, and calling affairs of the standard SIP protocol. Then it described the design of the decentralized SIP in detailed. This design is improved based on the standard SIP, the key points of design included voting Designated Server(DS)and Backup Designated Server(BDS)and exception handling mechanism. This paper also presented the key technology to implement this design. At last, the paper provides the evaluation of the experiments after implementation.The result showed this decentralized SIP solution is feasible. And it can be referenced for later research in this field.
