With the extension of computer and the development of digital image processing, gait analysis system often use technology of image processing to accomplish the tracking and locating of human gait motion, then obtained kinematics gait parameters. In recent years, gait analysis system has used in so many fields widely, such as clinical diagnoses, rehabilitation, physical science and intelligent artificial limb design. But, with the deeply use of these applications, so many problems which existed in gait analysis system become more and more obvious, such as high cost, low accuracy and low automation.Faced with these problems and deficiencies, we carry out a detailed design to human gait analysis system based on the technology of human motion tracking, which consists of there parts such as video image processing, human gait motion tracking and locating and kinematics gait parameters extracting. Firstly, obtaining binary image sequences about human motion object though preprocessing human motion image sequences without marker. Secondly, using particle filter algorithm based on human model to track human gait motion, and combining likelihood computing with the appearance model to locate lower limber joints of human body. Thirdly, using method of curve fitting based on least squares to get continuous trajectory of lower limber joints, and extracting kinematics gait parameters through derivative computing. These methods can solve some problems of limber occlusion and marker deformation which existed in human gait analysis system, and can make the system more suitable, robust and powerful.Finally, the paper sums up our work during the design and development, and discusses how to improve the human gait system in future.
