With the network penetrating into various fields, a Web-based network education is also flourishing more and more. As a certain supplement of the traditional central education, the network-based education has the superiority which cannot be substituted, for example, people can study without the limitation of the time and location, and they can choose their studying content and grasp their studying progress according to their own situations and characteristics, and so on. But the present network-based educational system still has some insufficiencies, especially, the system lacks of the essential understanding and the analysis to the students, lacks of the control and the guidance to students' studying process.Based on above insufficiencies, in order to solve the problem existing in the present system through the advanced intelligence technology, this thesis has studied and designed an intelligent network-based educational system. The emphasis of the research is the application of the Web mining technology and the genetic algorithm in the educational system.Firstly, this thesis analyzes the problem existing in the educational system and gives the sketch design of the network-based educational system, then proposes to use an improved genetic algorithm in the autogenerating test paper system. The proposed algorithm combines the genetic algorithm with the simulating annealing method. Compared with the existing genetic algorithms, the proposed algorithm overcomes the premature convergence phenomenon more easily and it improves the success rate and the efficiency of autogenerating a test paper as well.At the same time, this thesis has studied and designed an intelligent instructing system model based on the Web mining technology. This model establishes a multi-dimensional data set on the log data which has been prepared, then uses some data mining technology, such as association analysis, sequence analysis, to find the patterns in which the study recommendations and process control method are generated. According to the actual situation of the educational system, this thesis has improved the computing method of the confidence to enhance the accuracy of the patterns founded.The system uses B/S three-tier architecture. The background database of the system is SQL SERVER. Finally, this thesis realizes the system based on ASP.NET platform technology.
