Rapid development of sensor technologies, pattern recognition techniques, network connmunication and embedded computer science provides novel technical methods for portable and interface standardization function realization of electronic nose. The electronic nose makes progress on the trend of portable, intelligent, interface standardization, miniaturization, low price and consumption. The portable electronic nose system of interface standardization will be applied to detection of agricultural products storage, remote medical diagnosis, supervision and control of product line, real-time measurement of environment quality. Especially, the human security aguarantee is provided that the portable electronic nose system is applied to some abominable and dangerous environment of mine, fire scene and so on.In this paper, a portable electronic nose technology is researched exploratory based on the research work of electronic nose by the study group early, and the principle and construction of the portable electronic nose system's gas sensor array is researched for the targe of the apple detection further, it is verified and analyzed by experiment on that. The portable electronic nose system is made, which included the processors of TI's TMS320C6713, the A/D converter MAX1270. The system consists of sample collection, A/D conversion, data storage, nonlinear pattern recognition. It provides the most basic detection unit for the realization of multi-point detection system by many portable electronic nose using CAN-bus in the apple storage.The main contents of the thesis include initial choices and the final determination of sensor array, hardware design and software communication between DSP and MAX1270, the storage of sample data into SDRAM, apple sample data preproces by two methods of preprocess, the realization of BP neural network based on DSP and the automatic identification technology to the different mature apples(good, touch, bad) by the portable electronic nose. The data preprocessing and normalization algorithms are done by the form of software to realize its functions instead of hardware. This design also reached a portable electronic nose system to reduce overall price effects.
