Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is a popular research direction in the computernetwork area, and is considered to be one of the most important technologies in the21th century. WSN is a short-range wireless ad-hoc network consisting of denselydeployed large number of sensor nodes with the ability of sensing, computing andcommunicating. WSN can sense, inspect and gather the information of a given objector environment through wireless communication between each node.Localiza tion technology is the one of the key technologies of WSN. TheLocaliza tion technology of WSN genera lly falls into two categories, one is the nodeself-loca liza tion, and the other is object loca lization. It is obvious that the technologyof WSN will go ahead very quick ly and its applica tions will be wider and wider in thecoming future. The research as described in this dissertation is of significa nce in boththeoretica l and applica tion doma ins.In this dissertation the calculation method of node loca lization and objectloca lization is introduced, severa l common time dela y estimation methods areexpla ined, and the cross correla tion algorithm is chosen as the practica l time dela yestimation method used in the dissertation; A WSN node adopting the DSP chip,TMS320F2812, from TI Co. as processor is designed , the design principle andimplementation method of the four ma in models including processor model, wirelesscommunication model, sensor model and power ma nagement model are interpret ed; AC program for real-time loca lization applied in TMS320F2812 is developed, thedesign flow of ma in program and implementation method of the cross correla tionalgorithm are introduced, and the solution methods for the problems arising in theactual process of debugging program are imposed; fina lly a conclusion and analysisfor outdoors trial is given.
