Wireless sensor networks(WSNs) is one hot topic in international sensor technique. The position information is indispensable basic data. The data without location information are insignificant. Therefore the node's localization is very important. In this paper on the base of analyzing and studying application requirement of wireless sensor networks, we design and implement new type wireless sensor networks nodes for localization and tracking.In this paper software and the hardware are designed. Using microprocessor chip ATmega128L and wireless radio frequency(RF) module CC1000, ultrasonic sensor etc, new wireless sensor networks nodes are designed. Node debugging and performance testing are completed. The test shows that communication distance of the sensor nodes is about 11m, and the average error is about±5cm. It can satisfy localization and tracking. Using TinyOS and nesC, wireless sensor nodes networks is established. Indoor localization system is build, and the localization error is about 10cm. Finally, using of MS VC++ language, data management software of sensor networks is developed. serial and socket is used in Data collection method. The localization and tracking data can be displayed in our system. Location, temperature, light intensity for about ten's nodes can be obtained.According to the performance of our network experiment, the system is feasible. Through the platform established using the new nodes, we can further study tracking, localization and route algorithm of sensor networks. Technical foundation is also established for developing further practical sensor networks.
