UWB communication is a novel short-distance wireless communication technique, in which data are transferred using non-sinusoidal pulses with very short duration. It has many advantages, such as high transmission rate, low power consumption, good security, robustness to multipath and low cost. UWB technique is thought as a revolutionary breakthrough of wireless communication. It has comprehensive future on wireless communication, radar and precise positioning, etc. As the UWB technology is a kind of radio technologies haring frequency band with other kinds of radio technologies, it is crucial to deal with the interference problem between the UWB communication systems and other wireless communication systems for the further development of UWB systems.Chapter 1 analyses the definition, application areas and advantages of UWB technique. It also shows the main research content of this paper. In the end, it declares the importance of making research about the interference of UWB with other communication system.Chapter 2 analyses the transmission signals. We introduce the UWB transmission model and offer the UWB Transmission Spectral Masks as defined by FCC and ETSI for indoor and handheld usage.Chapter 3 offers the coexistence analysis technology for single UWB device existing, and calculation methods and simulation models for aggregating multiple UWB devices' influence to other wireless communication devices. Making use of the methods in this chapter with the path loss models of outdoor and indoor and the factors of GSM, we can simulate the electromagnetic coexistence quality of UWB. Besides, the least safe distance between UWB and victim receivers, the most distribution density and transmission power can be fixed.Chapter 4 describes the interference of UWB devices to GSM system. We adopt the criteria of a 1dB loss in the SINR and a loss leading to the minimum required SINR to study the UWB interference on GSM systems at the cell edge. UWB densities are computed for different GSM reuse factors and the results help evaluate whether UWB will result in harmful effects to GSM.Chapter 5 analyses the interference of UWB devices to GPS system. Because GPS is widely applied in the area of radio location, navigation and systematical timing, the spectrum of GPS is protected. In order to check the interference of UWB to GPS, we test the references by simulation and get the testing result.Chapter 6 makes a conclusion of this thesis and predicts the future's development of UWB.
