Distributed source coding (DSC) theory was founded in 1970s with the aim of discovering efficient method for several related data sources to transfer their data as less bit rate as possible. The theory utilizes the dependency between related sources, compresses the information separately to reduce the transmitted information rate, and decode the related information jointly to promote the efficiency of information transmission.According to distributed source coding theory, all kinds of channel coding scheme can be put into use for DSC. This paper discusses the application of Turbo coding technology, the traditional high performance channel coding method in distributed source coding. The structure of recursive systematic convolutional encoder and the interleaver are carefully designed to optimize the performance, and the relative non-binary Turbo decoding algorithm is modified to construct the scheme of distributed source coding. Simulation results show that the scheme can reduce the source information rate, and guarantee the dependability simultaneously. At last, some possible implement of DSC are discussed especially the wireless sensor networks.
