In resent years, the research on Ultra-Wide band (UWB) communication technology shows more significant. UWB technology has the features of device infrastructure simples, lower transmission power, higher gain and data rate, multi-path resolution capability. It can be deployed for military communications, family entertainment and office. Compared with the other short-range wireless communications technologies, UWB has a tremendous advantage in the data rates and has a grate space in WPAN application. It has been known as the next few years one of the thirteen most important technologies.As a new technology, it faces lots of practical questions, such as key management security issues in multicast. This paper mainly discusses this key technology in UWB. Research ideas are as follows:1) The security issues of UWB are mainly concentrated in the MAC layer. By analyzing the MAC layer in the security problems in the aspect of multicast find the key reason is that when the group multicast communication controller load imbalance problem. More users in the group, group controller load imbalance problem is more serious, leading to a group communication delays, a single point of effectiveness node.2) Research on the current common multicast communications of key management mechanism and attempt to use an one-way function trees key-management programme in MAC layer of UWB. This mechanism needs additional space to save the Assistant Temporary Key (ATK) which is key problem.3) By analyzing the auxiliary key space complexity and UWB MAC layer features, trying to use such a programme to improve the MAC layer, an increase of an ATK storage module and Key Authentication Module. Results show that, the space complexity and time complexity is O(log2 n) in the improved mechanism but O(n) in the original system. It's a good solution to the UWB multicast communication.How to apply this mechanism to UWB standards is the next important work.
