In the Chinese character teaching research of Chinese instructions, Chinese character glyphs need to be analyzed and handled quantitatively, for example, the analysis of glyph components of typos, the relationship between typos and correct characters, the relationship between typos, the classification, definition and regulation of typos, etc. Statistic pattern recognition is often used in current methods of on-line handwritten Chinese characters. It has a good adaptability to Chinese character glyphs in training sets and a high precision of recognition. But it is difficult to use statistic pattern recognition in the above analysis and handling based on Chinese character strokes or components except whole word recognitions. The mesh model of stroke extractions mentioned in this paper is a formal description method which treats stroke extractions as primitives and use mesh structures to describe the essential characteristics of Chinese character glyphs. The method which is based on the mesh model of stroke extractions can calculate, analyze and handle the glyph features of strokes, components and structure types of Chinese characters, etc.This paper mainly discusses the design and realization of the relevant algorithm that regularizes automatically Chinese characters which are based on on-line mouse equipment and are input by means of handwritten strokes into mesh model description glyphs of stroke extractions. First, Douglas Peucker algorithm is used to remove the needless points of strokes"drawn"by the mouse and then the substitution method of center of gravity is used to remove the accumulation points of the strokes. Next, the strokes are divided into different types of strokes extractions which are based on slope methods, and the stroke extractions split are combined according to stroke features. Last, the Chinese characters handled are regularized into mesh model forms in terms of strokes. The experiment shows that the above method can regularize various kinds of handwritten strokes, including one-way strokes and turning strokes, into reasonable mesh forms of stroke extractions. This sets up a reliable foundation for further analysis and handling of Chinese character glyphs.According to the above handling algorithm, a regularization instrument system of Chinese character glyphs with COM components interface is designed and realized. It is easy for laymen to use the description operations of Chinese character glyphs and it is easy for the reuse of other relevant application systems.
