Research On The Conformance Testing Of The IS-IS Routing Protocol

Routing technology has gradually been the essential part of networking technology as the computer network scale continuously expand and the internet rapidly been developed. Router also becomes the most important network equipment. People are no longer satisfied with only local network to share information, and hope that they can maximize the network resources use of various parts and various types of the world. The needs of users promote the development of the routing technology and popularity of routers. Efficient and stable security network routing protocols become an important factor in performance. Conformance testing of protocol implementation is an important means to ensure the interconnection among the Internet products.Now IS-IS routing protocol is one of the main IGPs (Internal Gateway Protocol). It can run in both OSI and IP environment. In today's network, it has a wide range of applications. IS-IS has a layered network structure, good stability, fast convergence, strong ability of expanding, And in the same network scale it needs less resources than other IGPs.Based on the analyzing of IS-IS protocol, this thesis applies conformance test on IS-IS protocol by using the formal and informal combined method. It describes adjacency state machine in E-LOTOS, automatically generates the abstract test case in TTCN-3 format by using the tool of PATSAG, gives all executable test cases, finally applies conformance test on Quagga-0.99.7's IS-IS protocol in Linux environment and analyzes the test result.
