With the development of software engineering technology, the dynamic and adaptive capability of software architecture in post-development phase has drawn so much attention and become one of the hottest research points in academe and industrial area. On the other hand, the rapid development and popularity of Internet and Web application has also make the problem of QoS control technology for Web application server become a valuable research subject.Firstly, this thesis introduces a dynamic software architecture named OSGi (Open Service Gateway Initiative), and gives a brief introduction of its standard, dynamic, extensible characteristic. Based on the OSGi system framework, this thesis proposes an approach to the adaptive and dynamic Web middleware server architecture by extending the fundamental service oriented OSGi framework to improve the quality of service for user requirement.Secondly, the middleware server extends the traditional scheduling framework of normal Web application server, provides two core modules in form of OSGi Bundle, including QoS management control and resource management scheduling components, which are used to manage the QoS requirement, serve for different quest, evaluates the QoS benefits, and also reallocates system resource. Furthermore, this middleware server uses the instance pool for business component management. All of these key technologies add a QoS control mechanism for web middleware server, and also make a significant contribution of improving the user request QoS.Thirdly, during the primary emulational experiment, an identity verification system based the OSGi orientd QoS driven Web middleware server is implemented. The associated experimental results analyse and comparisons with traditional Web application server are also carried out. Experimental results confirm the progressing Web QoS insurance capability of this OSGi orientd QoS driven Web middleware server. Finally, the work of research and design in this thesis is summarized, and the future work is also discussed.
