It is an important research field to obtain 3D shape-position data of the large objects in modern mechanism industry and measurement industry, and the technology about no guide coordinate measurement using computer vision is a focus. In China, the disadvantage, such as small measurement range, single applying target, generally exist in no guide coordinate measurement technology. There is a contradiction between wide range and high accuracy in coordinate measurement.A measurement idea is obtained by unifying the Massive investigation about visual imaging and no guide coordinate measurement technology. Based on imaging target and research of special measurement system, local information on the imaging target is gained. Furthermore, the coordinates of measuring points can be acquired through image processing.A new method about spatial coordinate measurement with no guide which is based on the coding pole is proposed. The measuring system is mainly composed of vision sensors, a computer and a coding pole. If part of coding pole is imaged in the visual field, its spatial attitude and the measuring coordinate can be obtained by image processing and data analysis. Besides, this method is independent of the optical characteristic on measuring object surface and expands the measurement range with no image resolution losing using the holographic characteristics of coding pole.In following, investigation and study are made, and several works have been completed:(1) Technology of no guide coordinate measurement is researched, and a new idea about spatial coordinate measurement with no guide which is based on the coding pole is put forward;(2) This paper given two measurement plans using colinearity equation and imaging magnification and established mathematic model of the system. Finally, the plan of imaging magnification is made as the final one by the emulational experiments; (3) These unknown parameters in measuring equation are got using Measurement implement software, and the measuring coordinates are worked out. In theory, 3D coordinates of the object surface is measured;(4) Experiment system of 2D coordinates measurement is established. Following, the repetition and principle experiment are accomplished. These data show that the model is reliable and the repetition precision is higher;(5) Finally, improvement measures are advanced by common source analysis of the measuring error. All the work have be done make a good foundation both in theory and in experiment for 3D coordinates measurement.Through massive study on the principle of 3D coordinates measurement with coding pole imaging, this paper put forward a new method about no guide spatial coordinate measurement which is based on coding pole. The idea will change the localization in present no guide coordinate measurement, and will solve the contradiction between high accuracy and wide visual field of the visual sensor. Thereby, it provides a new measuring method and a system model for surface data obtaining of large object.
