With the rapid development of modernization and great improvement of people's living standard, the requirements of the people for the safty of residential house are higher and higher. On the other hand, the dramatic development of electronics and telecommunication technology has provided the chance to excogitate the family alarm system. After investigation it can be found that the existing home alarm systems have these common defects: they often alarm due to small animals or the waving curtain which lead to unnecessary panic; because of the time delay, suspects can not be catched timely and the valid evidence can not be obtained; installation is not only inconvenient but also affect the beauty of the room because of the complicated wiring.A kind of infrared wireless alarm system based on MMS is introduced. This system integrates the embedded technology, infrared detection technology, advanced wireless data transmission technology, and the multimedia technology. It implements transmitting real-time video with MMS to user's MMS handset, making the alarm information more timely and exact.Compared with conventional alarm systems, this system has strongpoint thereinafter: Using home PC and MMS handset which are now popular, it costs less money and its function is easy to be extended; Applying wireless data transmission technology, it can be set without residential cabling; It abandons the one to one monitoring model; By sending SMS, users can acquire family's information actively; Every monitoring scene can trigger each other making the function of monitor more comprehensive.This system is designed by modular method. It is subdivided into five parts that include the collecting information on alarm module, controlling information on alarm module, wireless transmission module, kernel control module. According to the number of door and window, users can purchase several collecting information on alarm modules. This dissertation describes the design of hardware of the system in detail, in which selecting suitable chips, periphery circuit, chips interface, and the methodology of program of FPGA are discussed.The system design described in the dissertation is feasible and basic system functions are implemented. System under test has good reliability and maintainability; therefore it lays foundation for betterment and production and provides valuable experience for the further design of family security monitoring system.
