Discourse, as a common and usual social phenomenon, has been observed in the context with the development of linguistic study. Discourse analysis is the new field in modern linguistics. From the 1960th, the research on English discourse has been deepened by linguists around the world with the developed research method and techniques. As a special type of conversation, news interview is different from people's daily conversation on several aspects. Its special turn-taking organization founds the basic conversation pattern for the news interview. Linguists abroad have implemented comparatively comprehensive and in-depth research on this issue. In China now , there also appeared series of news interviews , not only in Chinese but in English .In the former one , the interviewer usually is Chinese native ,the interviewee is usually with Chinese culture ( from mainland or overseas); while in the latter ,the interviewer is usually a Chinese native , the interviewee can be possibly of different nationalities from different culture background .To this type of language phenomenon , it is rarely in-depth linguistic research in China currently . The author of this thesis tried to supply this gap. With 20 pieces , totaling 400 minutes of news interview , which are recorded from English channel (cctv-9 ) and Chinese channel (cctv-4) as the basic data base . The research tried to analyze the turn-taking system from the prospective of pragmatic and CL to test the employment of the CP, PP and FTA theory in the news interview , and try to explore something hidden behind people's turn-taking , ie. the influence of power , ideology on language use.The research showed that the turn-taking organization in the news interview has founded the question -answer format between the IR and IE. And under the format, the IR and IE obey the rules of turn-taking system. During the interview, in order to continue the conversation, they often employ and carry out the Grice's CP, Meanwhile, in order to express their own conversation implicature, some violation of the maxims happens very often. They try to use some polite strategies to maintain their own "face" when FTA happens. The research found in the turn-taking organization, sometimes, the IR doesn't produce any assessment to the IE's answer , which ensure not only his/her neutral stance but also setting the audience as the final talk target. The research found that, as an important means for transmitting information, the news interview is different from the daily conversation. In the interview, disagreement between interviewees is direct and usually ended by the interviewer with institutional power, instead of the IEs themselves. Due to the IE's different views on the world, the disagreements are sometimes very obvious and heated. While in the turn-taking, the IR with the institutional role, he or she can interrupt or insert their turn-taking to control, direct the talk as intended plan. In the process, the influence of the power and ideology on the language use is reflected clearly. Here, the research accomplished certain experimental research on the news interview in China. With the method of conversation analysis, the author did relatively in-depth and creative study on the turn-taking organization in news interview from the prospective of pragmatics and CL.The conclusion will make referential significance to the future study and provide a different prospective to study language. Meanwhile, due to limited practical condition and research competence, there are several deficiencies in the research. At the end of the thesis, the author also gave some suggestions for the future study in this field.
