It is resulted by the further research of intelligent control theory and its application in the control field that swarm intelligence is put into use in the heat power engineering process control. Artificial Fish Swarm Algorithm (AFSA) is an intelligent optimization method based on swarm intelligence. It constructs the simple bottom behaviors of artificial fish (AF) firstly, and then makes the global optimum emerge finally through AF individuals'local searching behaviors. AFSA has distributed parallel searching ability. This thesis has introduced the basic idea of AFSA,and a detailed realizing process of the new algorithm is also presented. This new algorithm is applied to thermal process identification and parameters optimization for PID controller. The simulation results show that this optimization algorithm is valid and effective.
