Grid technology effectively connects the geographically distributed resources so as to solve large-scale problems. It supports open standards and dynamic services, which is very suitable for constructing DSS platform and bring tremendous significance to the changes of DSS theory and application. Therefore, grid based open decision support systems (GBODSS) has become a new direction for the DSS development. GBODSS takes Grid as a platform whose resources include computing resources, storage resources, communicating resources, software resources, and knowledge resources etc.. These various resources can provide information, software tools, hardware platforms, and others to support decision makers. And how to manage and allocate these resources effectively has become one of the core issues of GBODSS. This thesis has done some theoretical research on the GBODSS architecture and resource management mechanism.The main work and achievements are as following:(1)The DSS model is improved in the dissertation after analyzing the current GBODSS architecture and Agent technology; moreover, we introduce the mobile Agent and multi-Agent system to GBODSS to help decision-makers dealing with decision-making and resources management in the grid environment.(2)This dissertation presents an economic model for resource management in GBODSS. The principle is to establish a commodity trading market environment, and provide resource management and transaction infrastructure in grid environment; the pricing depends on the negotiation agreements according to the supply, demand, and values of resources.(3)A negotiation mechanism is designed for the resource-transaction Agents. During the negotiation process, both buyers and sellers adjust margins and prices constantly and dynamically. In this way, we can organize and manage decision-making resources distributed in grid virtual organizations. Consequently, every decision-maker can get easy access to these resources through eliminating information isolation and raising the utilization of information resources.(4)Decision-making resources in Grid environment provide decision makers with strong support from the information, software tools, hardware platforms, and other areas. This thesis conduct grid and Agent technology to the supply chain decision-making support system to deal with daily decision making problems. It is proved to be useful in helping decision makers to plan transport routes, facilities layout etc. intelligently, quickly, economically and scientifically, which meets the needs of economic globalization.
