More and more attentions are focused on the Fibre Optic Sensor because of the advantages of anti-electromagnetic interference, high accuracy, small volume and corrosion resistance. They are especially applicable to be used in supervising large systems without destructivity. The Fibre Optic Sensor system studied in this paper is based on Mach-Zehnder interferometer, which is used to detect the intrusion, monitor the pipes and roads that need to be protected. The basic principle, configuration and related key technologies of Fibre Optic Sensors are introduced in the first part of this paper. Then the optimization of the locating algorithms is discussed and the PCI (Peripheral Component Interconnect) drivers are given. The complexity of the traditional locating algorithm is O(N2). In order to guarantee the real-time operation required by the sensor system, the locating algorithm should be optimized. With the help of the FFT algorithm, the calculation can be transferred from the time domain to the frequency domain. After processed, the result is transferred from the frequency domain to the time domain. The complexity of the locating algorithm is decreased to O(N log2 N). Besides, the implementation of the algorithm is discussed in this paper. The results of the tests show that the program meets the real-time requirement of the system. The sensor system consists of Optical Board Module, Sampling Card Module, Data Processing Card and PC. The high-speed and efficient data transmission between the PC and the Data Processing Card is a basic demand. The interface of the PC and the Data Processing Card is PCI, and its driver is based on WDM(Windows Driver Model). A DDK (driver development kit) is used to develop the PCI, which is built under VC plus plus and DriverWoks. The design, implementation and debug of WDM driver are discussed in detail in this paper.
