With the development of electronic technology, all kinds of power electronic devices have been used in industrial field, traffic and families widely. These nonlinear loads make serious harmonic problem and influence power quality greatly. Today harmonic suppression becomes a significant research issues.Firstly, this thesis presents the cause and harm of harmonic. Therefore the strategies of harmonic suppression—Hybrid Active Power filter (HAPF) are proposed emphatically. After that, the background, development and futures of active power filter (APF) are introduced.Secondly, the working principles and classification of passive power filter and APF are described in detail. The structures of HAPF are analyzed comprehensively. One key factors of APF is harmonic detection. Already existing methods of harmonic detection are simply introduced. After analyzing the operation principles of harmonic detection based on instantaneous reactive power theory, a modified method for harmonic detection—DC component is proposed. The results of simulation examples for DC component verify a faster transient response than conventional filters'. Another key factor in HAPF is control strategy. Based on the analysis of the principles for PWM tracking current control, an improved algorithm for traditional triangular wave comparing is put forward. It is favor of improving accuracy of pulse width. Experimental simulation is carried out in Simulink environment and results show that this kind of HAPF has excellent filtering effect.At the last part of this thesis, hardware circuits and software flow of HAPF, based on the technology of DSP TMS320F2812, are designed with comprehensive analysis.
