The slab reheating furnace is an important heating equipment used to reheat the slabs before rolling in hot steel rolling industry, which is crucial to the rolling temperature, consumers most of the energy during the rolling produce process. Its function is to reheat slabs to the temperature required for rolling process. The technology requirements of the furnace is to diminish the energy consumption of the reheating furnace and burning loss of the slab and reduce environmental pollution as much as possible. So study of advanced control strategy for the reheating furnace is very important for technological innovation and reducing manufacture cost of steel enterprises.The slab furnace is typically a complex industrial process, which almost possesses all characteristics of complex systems, such as creating mathematic models difficultly, severe disturbs, non-linearity, multi-variable, changeable parameters nonlinear, strong inter-correlation, high inertia and large time-delay even more. Thus, the optimal control of the reheating furnace is a complex problem of control and optimum, traditional control strategy is difficult to achieve good control effect. Combining with the practice characteristics of walking beam reheating furnace and taking the furnace temperature as study and control object, this paper puts forward a temperature Human-Simulated Intelligent Control (HSIC) for reheating furnace based on fuzzy logic parameter tuning.Main work is as follows:(1) The study background and significance is the task, the purpose and effect of slab reheating and influence which reheating quality has on the whole rolling process are elaborated. Furthermore, research situation and the problems of the reheating furnace's control are analyzed.(2) The main idea, concept and principle of HSIC are elaborated detailedly, the configuration and design of HSIC system, and the demerits and problems of HSIC are analyzed.(3) Schematic of slab reheating furnace, reheating process of slab and burning system of salb reheating furnace are elaborated, and technics, control aim, sequence control, burning control of reheating furnace and fuzzy logic control strategy for hearth pressure are discussed. Moreover, temperature control of furnace is studied emphatically, some factors that work on the temperature control of furnace are analyzed, and then optimal enactment of fuenace temperature is studied.(4) Aiming at practice problems of temperature control for furnace and based on HSIC's theory and principle of fuzzy logic inference system, temperature HSIC system for reteating furnace based on fuzzy logic parameter tuning is advanced and designed. MATLAB simulation results indicate that the control method is feasible and effective, which lays the foundation for the application and dissemination of this method.
