In recent years, with the development of GIS and mobile communication techniques, location-based service technology and applications has grown rapidly. Various LBS systems have emerged, largely to facilitate people. However, in the general trend of global integration, workgroup collaboration is becoming increasingly common and the demand for real-time sharing of location information between team members has become more and more pressing. The traditional LBS systems could not effectively meet this need, which brings new requirements to the design of the LBS architecture.Aimed at the critical problems in the design and implement of a new LBS architecture, this dissertation propose a solution to meet the needs of workgroup collaboration based on the detailed study and in-depth analysis of traditional LBS architecture. The main works of this dissertation are shown as follows:Firstly, we summed up the demand features of the workgroup collaboration and give the definition of LBS Group Users. At the same time the characteristics of the traditional structure of the LBS system and the need for structural change are addressed.Secondly, in view of the shortcomings of traditional LBS system, a new solution for LBS systems named Group Oriented LBS (GOLBS) to meet the need of group of users is proposed.Thirdly, the problem of the diversity of positioning source is solved by way of information fusion technique. Based on the technique of software bandwidth expansion, we also effectively eased the pressure from the narrow communication channel to the LBS system communications.Fourthly, a practical GOLBS system is designed and implemented. Through detailed testing, it is proved that the system can meet needs of the group users very well.
