In first part of this paper, the development of Non-destructive Testing and Digital Radiography is briefly introduced. Then detail information about the principles and system structures of Radioisotope Digital Radiography Systems series is described. A deep analysis towards the image processing part of systems is also conducted, which defines the problems to be researched. And the basic theory is introduced to understand the radiation imaging system comprehensively. As an important step in the processing system of digital images, especially radiation digital images, noise processing can provide high quality input for the subsequent processing such as auto-recognition as well as improve the visual experience of the end observers so that they can acquire their interesting information as precisely and quickly as possible. The conventional methods usually blur the detailed areas such as the edges of the objects when improving the quality of the image. From the analysis on the features of noise in radiation images, this paper designed an adaptive noise processing method for radiation images. The experiments showed that the method produced a good result as it preserved the details of the image and reduced the noise as much as possible at the same time.CT is a specific radiation imaging system. Frequently appeared in the CT reconstructed images, ring artifacts often corrupted the images, hampering post processing and analysis. Removing or at least significantly reducing ring artifacts is indispensable. Conventional correction schemes do not lead to satisfactory results.
