With the adjustment of nation's industrial structure and the imbalance of power network load enlarge increasingly, the research of economic dispatch have important realistic significance. In the power system, because the relation of water and power are corresponding with the thermoelectricity system, making to expenses of generating power least, so the economic dispatch of hydrothermal power system is more complicated than simplex thermal power system .Traditional excellent turn to adjust one degree method to exist certain blemish while solving that problem. The intelligent bionic algorithm can solve the discrete, nonconvex and nonlinear problems, which presents the new methods for economic dispatch in power system.The advantage and disadvantage of traditional economic dispatch methods as well as intelligent bionic algorithms are summarized. The algorithm steps and factors of simple genetic algorithm are described, and several improved genetic algorithms are presented. The partheno-genetic algorithm and its applications in economic dispatch of power system are materially researched. The partheno-genetic algorithm has the same fitness function, selecting method, terminating condition as the simple genetic algorithm, but the partheno-genetic algorithm is different from simple genetic algorithm in encoding method, genetic operation and application field.It built up three layer models of the economy dispatch aimed at actual hydrothermal power system. The method about optimal hydropower station of multi-reservoir to generate power were Studied in detail. It proposed the calculation method of water quantity within process of the discharge adjustment balance and the calculation method of the power balance in the thermal power system and the initiative sequence of machine set's burden to increase or decrease, and took several restrictions under consideration in the light of safe and economical units operation; Put forward usage heredity calculate way to resolve burden economy adjust the problem of degree, as well as according to actual problem of demand as to it's carry on appropriate improvement for the needs of my research; worked out the improved GA program and proved improved GA's accuracy and superiority through the calculation examples, and showed that GA had great practical and research meaning.
