Due to the wide use of power electronic equipments in industrial applications, the harmonic current that produced pours into electrical network. And it makes the problems such as the distortion of voltage, the wastage of electric circuits and reducing the ratio of using electric power equipments. Harmonic problems have become the important factor that ands the waste of wire and affects the quality of power supply. It has become an important problem for the quality of electric supplies. Passive Power(PF) and Active Power Filter(APF) are important devices to eliminate the pollution of harmonic. Hybrid Active Power Filter(HAPF) improves the compensation characteristics of PF and makes Active APF available for high-power applications at relative lower cost, which reaches the aim of utility and practicality.The paper particularly analyses and researches the methods of harmonic detection, the modeling of high capacity HAPF, designing system parameters on the basis of the traits of PF and APF. It provides theory gists and instructions for the realization of high capacity HAPF. It mainly includes the following parts.Firstly, this paper introduces harmonic detectin of electric system, the modeling of high-power HAPF, the calculating parameters, and its control method on the basis of PF and APF's characteristics. It has provided theory gist and evidence for the realization of high power HAPF. It includes the following aspacts:Senondly, theory of instantaneous passive power is presented, and then designing a two order filter bases on the demand of filters in the harmonic detection. A new method of dual filter scheme for harmonic detection based on the principle of instantaneous passive power is presented.Thirdly, discussing the performance of traditional structure of HAPF, and A new structure of RITHAF (Resonant Impedance Type Hybrid Active Filter) is presented, in which the part of APF is not borne fundamental voltage, and there is no fundamental current., and APF takes on control function and some parts of eliminating harmonic work. So it is effective to reduce the capacity and the grade of endurable voltage. RITHAF can be used in huge power and nonlinear places with its properties.Lastly, for analysing the performance of each part of RITHAF, An example of system parameters is designed and its VSI's components are given. In the end, three control schemes which include load detection, electrical source detection and complex detection have been discussed. At the same time, a given example proves the performances based on different control scheme of RITHAF. Some control methods are discussed, and especially analyse the principle of control algorithm of generalized integrators. A new complex hysteresis control method based on generalized integrators and improved hysteresis control method is proposed for RITHAF. The superiority of the complex hysteresis control method is proved according to a comparative simulation experiment.
