As an important research area of parallel computing, parallel computing model provides a directive theoretical interface and model framework for analysis and design of both parallel algorithms and system architectures. A parallel computational model, called Nondedicated Heterogeneous Barrier LogGP model, NHBL, is a very important and realistic model. The extension of NHBL is the main content of this paper, and model validation is also presented.Firstly, five important parallel computational models are introduced in the paper. Then the definition of NHBL and the analysis of execution time are illustrated. Due to its disadvantages the NHBL model has been extended. The overhead parameter in the NHBL model has been replaced by the sender overhead vector parameter and receiver overhead vector parameter, besides, a new parameter about the proportion of a parallel process occupying CPU has been included in the extended model. The work presented here also includes the parameterization of a real parallel system. Finally, an experiment performed is presented, which can be used for assessing the extended model's validity. The practical experiment, set up by comparing theoretically estimated time using the ENHBL model and experimentally measured execution time, shows the accuracy of the ENHBL model.
