| The puzzle of structure strain monitoring in long-term was discussed. The particular characters of FBG sensor proof that it is very suitable for the long-term monitoring, after comparing two kinds of strain technologies: strain gauge and FBG sensor. It has many applications for these advantages. The contents of this paper are as follow:First, the background and the significance of this subject are introduced. The reason why the strain gauge is not suitable for long-term monitoring is also presented. Then the advantages of FBG sensor are talked about. Finally, summarizing the research of FBG sensors at home and abroad, and its application..Second, the fundamental principle is introduced form two aspects: the optics mechanics and the transmission performance of strain and temperature.Third, in order to research the application work of FBG, the static strain measurement and dynamic measurement were set up. The laboratory work of FBG main considers as comparing the results of strain gauge. Finally, it provides that FBG can substitute strain gauge in traditional strain measurement.Forth, describing two engineering applications of FBG sensors. One is the long-term static monitoring of NB-352 platform. FBG sensors were installed on the bearing parts to monitor the variety of upper load of the platform effectively. The other application wants to evaluate the performance of the design for a new ice-resist platform BeiGao. FBG sensors installed on the hot strain locations during the construction to monitoring the hot strain in the water. Finally, discussing the problems of what we meet in the engineering.In the end, combining the problems discovered in application and the basic laboratory test, rise what we should do in our next work. |
